The Permitting and Compliance Group is charged with guiding the operations of KSC organizations as they pertain to various environmental media and compliance topics such as:

- Toxics and Polychlorinated Biphenyls
- Biomedical
- Stormwater & National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Management
- Drinking Water, Consumptive Use, Dewatering and Water Conservation
- Industrial Wastewater
- Domestic Wastewater and Septic Systems
- Storage Tank Management
- Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasures
- Air Emissions Compliance
- Air/Title V Permitting
- Asbestos
- Ozone Depleting Substances
- Risk Management Plans
- Landfill Compliance
- Pesticide Management
The Permitting and Compliance Group roles and responsibilities include:
- Providing guidance to KSC organizations and contractors on environmental compliance and permitting requirements
- Developing and communicating KSC policy to ensure consistency and implement regulatory requirements
- Conducting technical reviews of projects and project designs to identify environmental requirements
- Acting as the primary interface for KSC with all environmental regulatory agencies
- Participating in formal regulatory partnering efforts
- Processing environmental permit applications and renewals for KSC activities and operations
- Conducting audits of operations to ensure that government and contractor activities are in full compliance with regulations and KSC policy
- Reviewing proposed regulatory changes and identifying impacts and risks to KSC management
