Environmental Management - Recycling
At the Kennedy Space Center, NASA and its contractors are committed to initiating, expanding, and improving the recycling program to capture and collect all recyclable material.
The Recycling Program shall support Center-wide recovery and sale, reuse, or exchange of recyclable materials owned by the Government. All KSC employees shall comply with the Recycling program and Executive Order 13101, Greening the Government through Waste Prevention, Recycling, and Federal Acquisition.
Program Goals
- Divert 35% solid waste stream from landfill by 2010
- Maximize the recovery and sales of recyclable material owned by the Government, which has no value other than its basic material content
- Conserve disposal capacity
- Optimize the purchase of recycled and other environmentally preferable products
- Spur private sector development by using recycled and environmentally preferable products
- Assess and document Agency compliance with Executive Order 13101, Greening the Government through Waste Prevention, Recycling, and Federal Acquisition
